Bless it be the name of the Lord, my lovely readers! I pray that you all had a relaxed and drama-free weekend. My daughter had a skating party yesterday for her 9th birthday. So my weekend was pretty busy, but the kiddies had a great time filled with laughter, especially when they kept falling, hehe. Anyhoo, God put a particular topic in my heart. The scripture that I’ll start off with will give you a hint as to where this discussion is going to lead too. Exodus 20: 3 Thou shalt have no other Gods before me. Yeah, we all are definitely familiar with that scripture because it’s the first command in the Ten Commandments. Throughout the whole bible, that commandment was broken so many times, and it is still broken to this day. Now, we all may not have statue items as they did in the bible. Nevertheless, we do have things that we place before God. Those things can be another person, food, money, or any materialistic item. One time I watched a sermon, and the gentlemen mentioned that you could place people above God without even realizing it. Mainly people that you don’t even know. Who do you think those people are? Celebrities! I didn’t know I was placing a person that didn’t know me, only saw me once, and certainly didn’t remember my name above God by having his pictures on my wall. Why? Why give someone that much attention when they only want you to support them but don’t want to take the time to get to know you personally? To get to know your struggles and bear your burdens like we are supposed to as Christ followers? Only God deserves that much and more attention because He knows all our struggles. He experienced them when He sent His only begotten Son into the world and set the example that we can overcome the wickedness in this world as He did. All we have to do is surrender our all to Him. We find all kinds of idols to put above God. Video games, for instance. Oh yeah, I’m going there. When a person is spending loads of time on video games and not taking at least 20 minutes out of their day to pray and read God’s words, then video games are their idol, their god. God doesn’t ask for much and does a lot for us. So, why not show your appreciation and love to Him by living right? Devoting time out of our busy schedules to dedicate to Him can really strengthen our spirits and relationship with him. Most of us spend half of our time on our cell phones anyways, so why not use that time to send out scriptures to encourage someone or read the bible? Bible apps can be found anywhere on the web. We have no excuses, especially with our phones. People are literally making phones their gods because they can’t seem to go without them. Which leads me to my question, how long do you think you can go without your phone? There’s no judgment here. I would love your honest feedback. So, please comment below, and if you haven’t already checked out my first book series, you can read it for free on Wattpad. May the spirit of the Lord be upon you all always. Talk to you next time. God bless!
